Summer is heating up with fresh LTOs.
Taco Bell has partnered with Kellanova’s Cheez-It brand to launch the Big Cheez-It Crunchwrap Supreme and Big Cheez-It tostada. As part of the collaboration, the companies have sized up a Cheez-It cracker to 16 times its normal size.
The Big Cheez-It Crunchwrap Supreme features seasoned beef, nacho cheese, lettuce, reduced-fat sour cream and diced tomatoes, and instead of a typical tostada shell, a Big Cheez-It cracker, all wrapped in a grilled tortilla. The Big Cheez-It tostada features a Big Cheez-It cracker, topped with seasoned beef, diced tomatoes, lettuce, shredded cheese and reduced-fat sour cream.
"Cheez-It has always been about more than just snacking – it's about elevating cheese to new heights for salty snack lovers with an obsession for cheese and an appetite for excitement," said Jessica Waller, general manager, away from home at Kellanova. "Teaming up with Taco Bell has been an incredible experience for Kellanova to bring the Cheez-It passion for cheesy flavor and fun into new culinary territories so that fans of both brands Want it. Need It. Cheez-It."
Chick-fil-A is adding a new seasonal entrée for the summer, the maple pepper bacon sandwich, and is also bringing back its peach milkshake.
First tested in Indianapolis and Lexington, Ky., in 2o23, the maple pepper bacon sandwich features a lemon herb-marinated and grilled chicken breast, served on a toasted maple-flavored brioche bun, with pepper jack cheese, lettuce, pepper and brown-sugar tossed bacon and sweet and spicy pickles.
7-Eleven is leaning into summer with new sweet and spicy products. The convenience chain debuted a mangonada donut, inspired by the Mexican drink of the same name, which features a honeymooner donut, filled with a mixture of mango and chamoy and topped with Tajin.
7-Eleven also added a limited-edition peach candy lemonade slurpee drink, inspired by gummi peach rings.
“It's our favorite time of year – slurpee drink season – and we're looking forward to bringing our customers innovative new flavors all summer long, like the new peach candy lemonade flavor,” said Dennis Phelps, senior vice president, merchandising (vault and proprietary beverages) at 7-Eleven. “We're always on the lookout for the latest trends to bring exciting new additions to the menu, including diving into sweet and spicy flavors with the new mangonada donut.”
Fuzzy’s Taco Shop introduced a limited-time lineup of Baja-inspired dishes, including a Cali-style steak taco, a Cali-style steak burrito and birria queso fries.
“As we continue to expand our lineup of craveable Baja-inspired items we find inspiration from dishes that are authentic to the Baja region,” said Chef Daniel Camp, director of culinary for Fuzzy’s Taco Shop. “The Cali-style burrito made with crispy fries is a staple in Southern California, but we bring it to our menu in a unique, and quintessentially Fuzzy’s way. We’re adding fries for the first time, introducing a grilled burrito with a perfectly crispy tortilla exterior, and packing in flavor with our huge, fan-favorite tacos just in time to kick off the summer season.”
California Pizza Kitchen released its limited-time summer menu, which features seasonal, fruit-forward offerings. Now available through the summer at CPK is the California fields salad, strawberry shortcake, sparkling watermelon cooler and summer fruit sangria.
“This limited time menu is our love letter to summer,” said Chef Paul Pszybylski, vice president of culinary innovation at CPK. “We’re showcasing vibrant and classic seasonal flavors that are incredibly crave-worthy, in both dishes and drinks that will put a summertime smile on anyone’s face.”
Subway is bringing back its footlong cookie to restaurants nationwide, after first introducing the item in January.
"The Footlong Cookie has delighted millions of Americans since their first bites in January, sparking unprecedented demand over the last several months," said Paul Fabre, senior vice president of culinary and innovation at Subway. "Subway worked diligently to rush additional Footlong Cookie supply to satisfy cookie cravings at a great value and serve up a footlong dose of happiness this summer."
Hardee’s added a seasonal blueberry biscuit for the summer. The biscuit is served warm and features a blueberry flavor with a drizzle of icing.
“The blueberry biscuit is the perfect addition to our fan-favorite biscuit offerings," said Sarah Breymaier, vice president of brand marketing at Hardee's. "Biscuits remain a focal point of our breakfast menu and our limited-time biscuits, including cinnamon 'n' raisin biscuits and heart-shaped biscuits, answered guests' call for an extra 'something special' to our menu. We look forward to guests trying the new blueberry biscuit and are eager to continue creating biscuit combinations with flavors and ingredients that our guests love.”
