Spicy and “swicy” sauce varieties are making their debuts.
Sweet Baby Ray’s has expanded its heat-infused portfolio with a line of hot sauces. The 5-oz products are formulated as convenient spice additions, with flavors like Kickin’ Barbecue, spicy garlic, smoked chipotle and original.
Ace Hardware has developed its first exclusive food product launches with the Loud Mouth Barbeque line, which features two barbecue sauce varieties and several seasonings. Sauces include Boom Shaka-Laka, an apple habanero barbecue sauce, and Kaa-Blamo!, a hot and spicy barbecue sauce.
“We aim to be the barbecue destination in all the neighborhoods we serve, and our decision to develop Loud Mouth Barbeque was reinforced by the desire for bold, high-quality barbecue products at an affordable price point,” said Brian Wiborg, senior vice president of merchandising.
Truff, a truffle-based condiment brand, has debuted Truff Buffalo Sauce. The hot sauce features black truffle, vinegar, cayenne pepper and olive oil. Packaged in 6-oz bottles, the Buffalo product joins the company’s portfolio of truffle-infused mayonnaise, pasta sauce, oils and salts.
“Our take on buffalo isn't just about reimagining a staple sauce; it's a reflection of our commitment to enhancing the everyday dining experience,” said Nick Guillen, co-founder and co-chief executive officer at Truff. “We thoughtfully combined luxury with tradition by incorporating the unmistakable, bold flavor of Truff with the timeless flavor of buffalo sauce.”
Campbell Soup Co. is adding a new series of sauces under its Prego brand. Prego Creamy Pesto sauces combine the texture of alfredo sauce and herb flavor notes of pesto, according to the company. The line was developed as an alternative to the red sauce options that comprise the majority of the Italian foods aisle. Flavor varieties include basil pesto, roasted garlic pesto and Parmesan pesto. Each serving contains approximately 5 grams of fat and between 60 to 70 calories.
“Pesto is seeing the largest amount of growth within the Italian sauce category and yet is the smallest segment,” said Caitlin Votava, director of marketing at Prego. “We've seen that everyone is craving more meal inspiration with new flavors, so we created Creamy Pesto sauces with a vision to elevate more than just pasta, while keeping weeknight dinners easy and flavorful.”
Summit Hill Foods has launched a miniature line of its Original Louisiana Brand hot sauce for convenient, on-the-go applications. The 1.6-oz miniature bottles come in three flavors: original, sweet heat with honey and bourbon barrel aged.
Mooney Farms, a manufacturer of Mediterranean-inspired products, is adding aline of sauce starters for home cooking applications under its Bella Sun Luci brand. The tomato-based cooking concentrates feature a blend of Italian herbs and spices designed to recreate restaurant-style meals at home. The product comes in a resealable 8-oz pouch format and utilizes cold packing technology to preserve nutrients from the tomato and maintain the freshness of ingredients, the company said.
“Throughout the development of the product our study concluded that today’s shoppers need an affordable way to create delicious meals at home,” said Mary Mooney, owner of Mooney Farms. “The concentrated cooking bases gives busy and budget minded consumers a fool proof method to create the most flavorful meals.”
California-based restaurant chain Health Nut has released a line of salad dressings for retail aimed at consumers seeking gluten-free, non-GMO options. Each product contains less than 145 calories, 16 grams of fat and 5 grams of sugar per serving, with flavors like original house, spicy Asian, sesame and ranch.
The product line is currently rolling out into refrigerated aisles at grocery stores and mass retailers across the United States, with a suggested retail price between $4.98 and $5.49 per 12-oz container.Local Hive has unveiled a line of sweet and spicy hot sauces utilizing honey sourced exclusively from beekeepers in the United States. The “swicy” product line includes flavors such as Hatch chile with Southwest honey, mango habanero, cayenne with Southeast honey, chipotle with Texas honey, sriracha, habanero and original.
