Restaurant trends are driving condiment development.
Primal Kitchen launched its first line of dipping sauces, each inspired by restaurant-style condiments and intended to easily elevate everyday meals.
The products are formulated free from seed oils, artificial sweeteners and sugars, with 2 grams of sugar or less per serving. Flavors include Chicken Dippin’, a mustard and apple cider vinegar sauce sweetened with pear juice; Special Sauce, a blend of mustard, mayonnaise and pickle relish to accompany burgers and fries; Yum Yum Sauce, a sauce for steak, shrimp, chicken and vegetables with sweet and tangy flavor notes; and avocado lime, for applications such as tacos and burritos.
Chosen Foods debuted a line of "Dip & Drizzle" sauces, which are formulated with avocado oil and free from artificial ingredients.
The line features three sauces, including a chicken sauce, which features a mustardy kick and a sweet finish; a burger sauce, which is a blend of tangy, mustardy and oniony flavors; and an everything bagel sauce, which has a creamy and garlic flavor with poppy seeds.
“At Chosen Foods, we’re transforming the way you think about (and consume) avocado oil, and we’re constantly dreaming up new ways to bring good fats and great taste to your kitchen pantry,” said Sarah Barnes, vice president of marketing at Chosen Foods.
SOMOS, a ready-to-eat Mexican food brand, is expanding its portfolio of meal solutions with the launch of its latest line of simmer sauces. The simmer sauces are available in taco, fajita and al pastor varieties and are inspired by the meals the SOMOS team grew up eating, according to the company.
The taco simmer sauce features a blend of tomatoes, chiles, and seasonings like cumin garlic and onion. The fajita sauce is a blend of tomatoes, peppers and lime juice with oregano and cumin, and the al pastor simmer sauces is a blend of tomatoes, Mexican chiles and pineapple juice.
“Our new line of simmer sauces strikes the perfect balance of effortlessness and creativity,” said Miguel Leal, co-founder and chief executive officer of SOMOS. “Growing up, my mom would make the most delicious and complex sauces that would take her hours to perfect and our goal with this product line is to bring consumers sauces bursting with flavor but ready in a fraction of the time for easy, delicious meals that even my mom approves of. The Mexican food aisle in the US has been lacking in giving consumers a real taste of Mexican cooking — our simmer sauces truly give consumers a taste of Mexico and are a staple for my family taco nights.”
The Kraft Heinz Co. has rebranded its various sauces, dressings and spreads into the newly formed Kraft Sauces portfolio.
As part of the rebrand, Kraft Sauces launched its first product innovations. The line, featuring four new aioli sauces and a salad dressing, was developed in response to increased consumer interest in aioli sauces, particularly among millennial shoppers. Each product is designed to help consumers easily elevate their at-home meals with restaurant-quality flavor additions, according to the company. Flavor varieties include garlic aioli, chipotle aioli, burger aioli, smoky hickory bacon-flavored aioli and Buffalo-style mayonnaise dressing.
Haven’s Kitchen launched a line of shelf-stable aioli in a squeezable format. Joining the brand’s portfolio of refrigerated sauces, the product is aimed at consumers seeking convenient meal solutions and flavor infusions for home cooking applications. The aioli is formulated with a blend of herbs, citrus, aquafaba and spices to create a low sugar and low sodium condiment option for health-conscious shoppers. Flavors include four globally inspired varieties: jalapeño, chili, yuzu and Chili Bang Bang.
“With the increase of people cooking and eating at home, convenient flavor is in high demand, and cooks are searching for new, healthier options that are better for them and for the planet,” said Alison Cayne, founder of Haven’s Kitchen.
Yo Mama’s Foods expanded its line of sauces and condiments with the introduction of a hickory barbecue sauce and a hot Buffalo sauce. Each is gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan, with no artificial flavors, colors and preservatives.
