WASHINGTON — Joseph Clayton has been named president and chief executive officer of the International Food Information Council, effective July 11. He will succeed David B. Schmidt, who is stepping down after 23 years of leadership. Mr. Clayton also will serve as c.e.o. of the IFIC Foundation.

Mr. Clayton is currently the interim president of the American Frozen Food Institute (A.F.F.I.). He previously was executive vice-president of public affairs at the A.F.F.I. Prior to joining the A.F.F.I., he held leadership roles with Golin International and Widmeyer Communications, where he was c.e.o.
