KANSAS CITY — Retailers and foodservice operators are debuting a bevy of seasonal innovations ahead of Valentine’s Day.

Barilla is tapping into the spirit of the holiday with the launch of heart-shaped pasta. Each serving contains 200 calories and 7 grams of protein.

Hormel Foods Corp. launched a limited-edition home pizza kit. The Heart-to-Heart kits include all the necessary ingredients to create the oven-ready pizza, including limited-edition heart shaped pepperoni.

“Valentine's Day is a great opportunity to show our loved ones that we care, and what better way to do that than everyone's favorite love language: pizza," said Andrew McElroy, associate brand manager at Hormel Foods. "That's why we created our limited-edition Heart-to Heart kits. Paris Baguette unveiled seven Valentine's Day-inspired treats ranging from cakes to pastries. The line includes Valentine’s double chocolate Frasier cake, chocolate-covered strawberry heart cake, I love you chocolate cake, Valentine’s chocolate-covered strawberry supreme croissant, Valentine’s chocolate-covered strawberry cream puff tart, Valentine’s chocolate-covered strawberry king cream donut and Valentine’s chocolate-covered strawberry mochi donut.
