KANSAS CITY — Health and wellness may be on the minds of many consumers, but indulgence still has a role to play. C.P.G. manufacturers are catering to those consumers seeking to splurge with new sweet treats.
Several indulgent ingredients collide in The Hershey Co.’s new Reese’s Outrageous Bar. The new candy bar features a peanut butter core topped with caramel all surrounded by milk chocolate stuffed with Reese’s Pieces candy.
Also offering a new candy bar stuffed with sweet elements, Mars, Inc. is launching Snickers Peanut Butter Crisper. The bar features peanuts, nougat, crisp rice and peanut butter enrobed in milk chocolate.
Unilever P.L.C. is debuting a duo of new Ben & Jerry’s ice cream varieties to sate consumers’ dessert desires. The new Marshmallow Moon flavor is a vanilla ice cream with fudge chunks and marshmallow and graham cracker swirls. The new One Sweet World flavor is a blend of coffee caramel ice cream with chocolate chunks and swirls of marshmallow and salted caramel.
To make its snack cakes even more indulgent, McKee Foods Corp. is adding a fudge-dipped variety. New Drake’s Fudge Dipped Devil Dogs feature two devil’s food cakes sandwiched around vanilla-flavored crème all dipped in fudge.
“How do you improve on a consumer favorite with over nine decades of deliciousness? Dip it in fudge, of course,” said Chip Stenberg, associate brand manager for Drake’s. “We’ve got the research to back it up, but, hey, it’s just a fact.”
